Mission: Yozakura Family

Hitsuji Gondaira created Mission: Yozakura Family, a shonen manga serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump from August 2019 to January 2025. The series totals 29 tankobon volumes. It follows Taiyo Asano, a high school student crippled by social anxiety after losing his parents. His only friend is Mutsumi Yozakura, a cheerful girl from a family of elite spies. When Mutsumi's dangerously overprotective eldest brother Kyoichiro tries to kill Taiyo, Mutsumi reveals the only way to save his life is for them to marry, making Taiyo the new patriarch. He must then undergo intense spy training, navigate the chaotic dynamics of his new siblings, and protect Mutsumi from various threats, all while building his own confidence.

The series blends espionage action, romantic comedy, and heartfelt family drama. Gondaira's art style balances expressive character designs with detailed spy gadgetry, and the story frequently calls out its own absurdity. An anime adaptation by Silver Link aired from April to October 2024, with an English dub featuring Reiji Kawashima as Taiyo and Kaede Hondo as Mutsumi.
