Miss Piggy

Miss Piggy emerged from a litter of piglets on a farm in the American heartland, though she prefers to let her origins remain shrouded in mystery. Her first documented appearance was on March 11, 1974, in the ABC special The Muppets Valentine Show, performed by Frank Oz. At that time she was a minor character, a background pig with no lines. But her star quality was immediate, and when The Muppet Show premiered in 1976, she had been promoted to a regular cast member. Her full name has never been officially given; she has stated that her first name is "Miss" and her last name is "Piggy."[edit]

Miss Piggy is a glamorous, self-absorbed diva with a volcanic temper and a heart of gold buried under layers of ego. She speaks in a breathy, theatrical voice, frequently sprinkling French phrases like "Moi," "Bonjour," and "Au revoir" into her dialogue. She is fiercely ambitious, relentlessly pursuing fame, fortune, and the affection of Kermit the Frog. Her vanity is legendary: she believes herself to be the most beautiful, talented, and important being in any room. When offended, she delivers a signature karate chop accompanied by a loud "Hi-YAH!" that sends adversaries flying.
