Miria Matembe's career is marked by a series of historic firsts and enduring contributions. As a co-founder of ACFODE, she helped build one of Uganda's most influential women's organizations. Her work on the Constitutional Commission was instrumental in securing affirmative action provisions for women in Uganda's 1995 Constitution. As Minister for Ethics and Integrity, she took on corruption with a fearlessness that set her apart. Her 2006 Democracy Fellowship recognized her global impact, and her recent stand against state repression has solidified her status as a champion of human rights.
