Mikel is one of Nigeria's most decorated footballers. He is the only Nigerian player to have won the UEFA Champions League, and he achieved a rare clean sweep of English domestic trophies with Chelsea. His leadership in captaining Nigeria to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations title ended a 19-year drought for the Super Eagles. Mikel's 91 caps place him among Nigeria's most-capped players, and his Olympic bronze medal in 2016 added to his legacy as a winner at every level.
