Mikayla Demaiter

Mikayla Demaiter is a Canadian model, influencer, and entrepreneur who first made her mark as a goaltender in women's hockey. After a knee injury ended her playing days at 19, she pivoted to social media, where she now commands over 3 million Instagram followers and 2.7 million on TikTok. Her feed blends fashion, lifestyle, and vacation imagery, and she's become one of the most recognizable hockey-to-model crossover figures on the internet.

Beyond posting, Demaiter works as a SportX influencer and ambassador and is partnered with Verge Agency. She runs her own website, mikaylamdemaiter.com, and has been labeled by tabloids as the “world's sexiest ice hockey star.” In 2026, she found herself at the center of dating rumors with golfer Bryson DeChambeau, which only added to her mainstream visibility. [edit]

Born and raised in Chatham, Ontario, Demaiter grew up in a hockey-loving family and took to the ice early. She chose the goaltender position, a decision she's often asked about; her Instagram bio teases that the answer is “simple.” She played for the Hawks PWHL Jr team and later the Bluewater Hawks in the Provincial WHL, where her athletic promise was evident.

In January 2017, she began sharing modeling photos on Instagram, which gave her an early taste of online attention. She balanced hockey with school, eventually enrolling at Western University in Ontario. But in 2019, at age 19, a knee injury forced her to retire from competitive hockey. That abrupt end redirected her energy into content creation, and she quickly found a new audience drawn to her athletic background and visual style. [edit]

After retiring from hockey in 2019, Demaiter threw herself into building an online presence. Her Instagram following grew steadily, crossing 3 million by the mid-2020s, and she expanded to TikTok where she now has 2.7 million followers and nearly 28 million likes. Her content, mostly outfit showcases and travel photos, regularly goes viral.

In 2023 she launched her official website, mikaylamdemaiter.com, as a hub for her brand. She partnered with Verge Agency and became a SportX ambassador. In June 2026, Sports Illustrated profiled her for a piece on the Stanley Cup Final, calling her a “hockey influencer.” That summer, tabloids like The Sun repeatedly featured her, and in August, dating rumors with Bryson DeChambeau put her in the celebrity gossip cycle. [edit]

Demaiter's public image is built on a striking contrast: a former hockey goalie who now poses in bikinis and designer outfits. Her social media voice is casual and playful, often using humor in captions. Media outlets tend to frame her through her athletic past, constantly referencing her hockey credentials even when covering her modeling work.

She has been dubbed the “world's sexiest ice hockey star” by tabloids, a label she leans into with her content choices. Her feed is polished but approachable, and she engages with fans through comments and stories. She's not just a model; she's a brand, with a website and partnerships that reflect a savvy business sense. [edit]

Mikayla Demaiter commands a digital audience defined by direct engagement rather than organized ritual or formalized collective identity. Her supporters interact through standard platform mechanics on Instagram, TikTok, and X, consuming content that blends high-fashion modeling with her distinct background as a former professional goaltender. Unlike communities driven by specific campaigns, birthday billboards, or fan-funded projects, her following operates on a passive consumption model fueled by viral status and the novelty of her transition from ice hockey to influencer culture. The narrative surrounding her is anchored in two documented events: the abrupt end to her athletic career at age nineteen due to a knee injury, and her subsequent rise as a recognizable figure in sports-adjacent media. Recent attention intensified during May 2026 when her presence at the Stanley Cup Final generated significant coverage, followed by widespread speculation linking her to golfer Bryson DeChambeau in August 2026 after sightings at an LIV Golf event. These moments serve as the primary touchstones for public interest, though they remain within the realm of celebrity gossip rather than established folklore. Despite her substantial reach, with millions of followers across major platforms, iFANN has not yet collected sufficient data to assign a global ranking position. Consequently, Mikayla Demaiter currently holds no placement in the iFANN fame indices.[edit]

Her athletic background includes playing for the Hawks PWHL Jr team, though her aspirations for a professional hockey career were interrupted by a knee injury at age 19 while playing for Bluewater in the Provincial WHL. Beyond her professional life, she was previously linked to NHL player Kurtis Gabriel and later became the subject of widespread dating rumors involving golfer Bryson DeChambeau in August 2026 after fans spotted clues at an LIV Golf event. Media outlets frequently characterize her as the "world's sexiest ice hockey star," a title that accompanies coverage of her modeling work and poolside appearances. A popular story among her followers recounts the details of her early athletic dreams being cut short, serving as a defining biographical chapter that explains her current path. In June 2019, her retirement from competitive ice hockey due to a severe knee injury while playing in the Provincial WHL (W) with Bluewater stands as the catalyst for her shift from athlete to businesswoman. Furthermore, her visibility at the Stanley Cup Final in May 2026, where she was noted riding with one of the teams, generated significant media coverage regarding her influence in the sports world.[edit]
