Jordan's six NBA Finals MVP awards are the most in history, and his five regular-season MVP awards tie him with Bill Russell for second all-time. He led the league in scoring a record 10 times and holds the highest career scoring averages in both the regular season (30.1) and playoffs (33.4). He is one of only eight players to achieve the basketball Triple Crown (NCAA championship, Olympic gold, and NBA championship). In 1999, ESPN named him the greatest North American athlete of the 20th century, and the Associated Press ranked him second only to Babe Ruth. The NBA MVP trophy bears his name.
