Me Rehúso

Venezuelan singer-songwriter Danny Ocean, born Daniel Morales, recorded "Me Rehúso" in his Miami bedroom as a Valentine's Day gift for a woman he left behind when he fled his country's economic and political crisis in 2015. He was working at a pizza place at the time, with no label backing. The track blends tropical house, dance-pop, and a subtle reggaeton beat that kicks in around the one-minute mark, all built on interlocking synthesizers and Ocean's hungry, scratchy vocal delivery. The lyrics refuse to accept a relationship's end: he sings about not wanting to give a final kiss.

Released independently on September 16, 2016, the song spread slowly through streaming playlists. By early 2017 it had charted on Spotify's Top 50 in every Latin American country, a first for an independent artist. Atlantic Records and Warner Music Latina re-released it on June 16, 2017. It went on to break the record for the Latin song with the most weeks on Spotify's Global Top 50, surpassing Luis Fonsi's "Despacito" with 36 weeks and peaking at No. 18. Spotify named it the No. 1 most-streamed track of 2017 in Colombia, Chile, and Mexico. As of 2025, the song has surpassed 2.5 billion streams on Spotify.

The official music video, released in 2017, has amassed over 1.9 billion YouTube views. An English-language version titled "Baby I Won't" came out on June 15, 2017. "Me Rehúso" is considered the most listened-to Latin song of the 2010s on Spotify in Latin America and Spain. It launched Ocean's career, leading to collaborations with Mike Bahía and Karol G, and has been covered by multiple artists.
