Mayar Sherif

Mayar Sherif's list of achievements is remarkable for any player, let alone one from a country without a strong tennis tradition. She is the first Egyptian woman to win a WTA title, the first to reach a WTA final, and the first to qualify for the Olympics in tennis. Her career-high ranking of No. 31 is the highest ever for an Egyptian, male or female. She also holds a record ten WTA 125 singles titles, more than any other player in that category, and was a two-time All-American in college. These accomplishments have made her a national hero and a role model for young athletes across the Arab world.
