Records
Mauricio Sulaimán's leadership has earned him some of the highest honors in sports administration. He is the first WBC president to be inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame as a non-participant, receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024. The Muhammad Ali Center recognized his humanitarian work with its Humanitarian Award in 2022, and the Boxing Writers Association of America named him Person of the Year in 2019 for his safety reforms. First boxing sanctioning body to mandate annual MRI brain scans for ranked boxers
Under Sulaimán's leadership, the WBC became the first major boxing organization to require annual MRI brain scans for all ranked fighters, setting a new safety standard.
First WBC president to hold a business administration degree
Sulaimán holds a degree in Business Administration from Anáhuac University, a first among WBC presidents, which he used to modernize the organization's operations.
