Wilander's place in tennis history is secure. He was the youngest male Grand Slam champion when he won the French Open in 1982, a record that stood for years. He's one of only six men to win Grand Slams on all three surfaces. His 1988 season, where he won three majors, puts him in an elite club alongside Rod Laver, Jimmy Connors, and Roger Federer. For Swedish tennis, he's a pioneer who inspired Edberg and many others. His Hall of Fame induction in 2002 was a formality given his achievements.
