Masayoshi Tanaka

Masayoshi Tanaka's standing in anime rests on the faces he has drawn rather than on trophies. His character designs for Anohana and Your Name are among the most widely recognized in modern anime, and his long collaboration with Mari Okada and Tatsuyuki Nagai has produced a run of films that fans follow by the trio's names alone. The 2015 artbook built around his Anohana work, released at Comiket, is a mark of how closely fans associate him with that series. His advisory role at CloverWorks places him among the people shaping the next generation of animators.
