Martina Sáblíková

Martina Sáblíková's career is defined by unprecedented dominance in long-distance speed skating. She is the only Czech athlete, male or female, to win five Olympic gold medals, and she did so with a level of consistency that spanned three different Olympic cycles. Her 21 World Championship titles place her among the sport's all-time greats, and her ability to peak at major events, setting Olympic records in 2010 and again in 2022, speaks to her remarkable mental strength.Beyond the medals, Sáblíková's dual-sport career as a professional cyclist adds another layer of achievement. She won multiple national time trial titles and ranked among the world's top 15, proving her endurance capabilities were second to none. Her retirement in 2026 was met with an outpouring of respect from the international sporting community, with many calling her the greatest Czech Olympian of all time.
