Mark Kamins

Mark Kamins' greatest legacy is the launch of Madonna's career — a feat that reshaped pop music. He was the first DJ to play her demos and the one who brought her to Sire Records. His remix of Madness's "Our House" became a US number one, and his production of the Beastie Boys' first rap record marked an early milestone in hip-hop. Kamins was also a pioneer of international DJ touring, breaking ground for the global DJ culture that followed. His influence is felt in the careers of the artists he signed, produced, and championed.
