Yepes's career is distinguished by his remarkable longevity and his role in two golden eras of Colombian football. He is one of only two players to have won the 2001 Copa América and then helped the national team reach the 2014 World Cup quarterfinals. His 102 caps place him among Colombia's most capped players, and his leadership as captain from 2008 to 2014 was instrumental in the team's resurgence. At club level, winning the Serie A title with AC Milan at the age of 35 demonstrated his enduring quality.
