Manuel Ugarte

Manuel Ugarte Ribeiro burst onto the scene in Montevideo on April 11, 2001. This 25-year-old Uruguayan now anchors the midfield for Premier League giants Manchester United and the national team. His journey began at Fénix, where he progressed through the youth ranks before making his first-team debut in 2016. A season later, he moved to Portugal, joining Famalicão in December 2021. His performance there caught the eye of Sporting CP, leading to a move that saw him lift the Taça da Liga trophy. Ugarte's rapid rise continued when Paris Saint-Germain signed him in July 2023 for €60 million. He spent two seasons in France before returning to England last August, this time with Manchester United for €50 million. On the international stage, he represented Uruguay at under-20 and under-23 levels before earning his senior cap in 2021. The 2024 Copa América highlighted his growing reputation; he earned a spot in the Tournament Team after delivering standout defensive displays. His ability to break up play and distribute the ball makes him a vital asset wherever he plays.[edit]
