Mallikarjun Kharge's career is marked by several notable achievements. He won nine consecutive Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections from 1972 to 2008, an unprecedented record in the state. He was the first Dalit advocate in Gulbarga district. As Revenue Minister, he enabled millions of landless tillers to gain occupancy rights. As Home Minister, he secured the release of actor Rajkumar. He built the Buddha Vihara in Kalaburagi, one of the largest in South Asia. At age 80, he became the oldest person to be elected Congress President, and under his leadership, the party formed the official opposition for the first time since 2014.
