Mahershala Ali is one of the most decorated actors of his generation. He is the first Black actor to win two Academy Awards in the same category and the second Black actor to win multiple acting Oscars, after Denzel Washington. He is also the first Muslim actor to win an Oscar. In 2019, Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world. The New York Times ranked him among the 25 greatest actors of the 21st century in 2020. He received the American Cinematheque Award for career achievement in 2019 and was named Man of the Year by Harvard's Hasty Pudding Theatricals.

AwardsMahershala Ali has won two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor, for Moonlight (2017) and Green Book (2019). He also won a BAFTA, a Golden Globe, and three Screen Actors Guild Awards, including two for individual performance and one for ensemble cast. His Primetime Emmy win came as executive producer of We Are the Dream. He has multiple Critics' Choice, NAACP Image, and BET Awards.
