Cadena's record is short on trophies and long on a different kind of distinction: she is one of a small number of Mexican actresses to have carried a named Marvel character, and she did it in a film that assembled a largely Latin American cast for a story about a submerged civilization. The role of Namora required her to learn freediving and perform underwater, a technical demand that few franchise parts make. Her earlier work in Dance of the 41 put her in a film reckoning with a documented episode of Mexican social history, and La diosa del asfalto placed her in the country's urban-crime tradition.
