Lyodra was born on June 21, 2003, in Medan, the capital of North Sumatra. Her father, Simar Ginting, runs his own business, while her mother, Natalia Johanna Tarigan, works as a psychiatric nurse. She is the eldest of two children, with a younger brother named Igyralo. The family is Catholic, and Lyodra received the baptismal name Margareta. Her given name, Lyodra, is a variation of the Hebrew Liora, meaning "light."

Her mother recalls that Lyodra could sing as early as age two. At four, she began entering local singing competitions in Medan, and in the fourth grade her parents enrolled her in formal music lessons, where her talent began to take shape. She competed regularly in her hometown, and by her early teens she was ready for bigger stages.

In 2014, at age eleven, Lyodra took part in the television competition Indonesian Mencari Bakat. Three years later, in 2017, she traveled to Italy to compete in the Sanremo Junior international singing contest, winning the A3 category. That same year she appeared on the Indonesian show Di Atas Rata-Rata 2. These early experiences gave her the confidence and stagecraft that would soon carry her to national prominence. [edit]

Lyodra's breakthrough came in 2019 when she auditioned for the tenth season of Indonesian Idol. At sixteen, she won the competition, making history as the youngest champion the show had ever seen. In 2021, she expanded her reach with her first acting role in the web series 7 Hari Sebelum 17 Tahun and released her self-titled debut studio album, Lyodra. The album showcased her range, from ballads to more upbeat pop, and solidified her place in the Indonesian music scene. The following year, she collaborated with Scottish singer Calum Scott on a track, and her single "Sang Dewi" became a fan favorite.

She continued to release music steadily, with the singles "Ego" and "Menyesal" arriving in 2023. Despite this significant regional influence and her status as a global collaborator on major projects like the Moana soundtrack, she does not currently hold a placement in the iFANN Global Top 1,000 or any Top-100 scope list. The iFANN Global Fame Engine has evaluated her profile, confirming that she is an EVALUATED_UNRANKED subject who has yet to secure a specific numeric ranking in the published directories. Her dedicated community identifies simply as MyLyodra, a name confirmed by her official social media channels rather than a cryptic acronym. This organized fanbase is known for its direct engagement with the artist, most notably through the late 2025 "Your Singles" campaign where collective requests directly influenced her release schedule. While international rankings remain unassigned at this time, the loyalty of MyLyodra and Lyodra's inclusion in Forbes' Alpha Under 40 list underscore her growing stature as a cultural ambassador who bridges contemporary pop with traditional faith.[edit]

Lyodra often contrasts her shy, introverted nature with her commanding stage presence, once noting that her true self is a person who fears meeting strangers. She proudly identifies as a Gemini, embracing the label even though it contradicts the typical extrovert stereotype associated with the sign. A practicing Catholic, she frequently cites her faith as a cornerstone of her life, a value that resonated deeply when she performed at a Papal Mass alongside Pope Francis. Fans still retell the story of her historic victory in the tenth season of Indonesian Idol, where she became the youngest champion in the show's history at just sixteen years old. Another defining moment involves her self-titled debut album, which critics described as an emotional rollercoaster, cementing her reputation for vocal versatility beyond simple pop hits. Her humility remains a central part of her lore; despite rapid ascent from a teenager in Medan to a national icon, she is often remembered for her grounded demeanor and willingness to show vulnerability in interviews. Her hobbies include playing tennis and cooking, pastimes she shares as a way to stay connected to normalcy away from the spotlight.[edit]
