Lukas Moodysson's shelf of awards reflects a career that has never played it safe. He is one of the few directors to have won the Guldbagge for Best Film twice, for both Show Me Love and We Are the Best!, and his Best Director win at the European Film Awards for Lilya 4-Ever put him on the international map. What makes his record special is the range: he can move from a tender teen romance to a brutal social drama to a punk comedy, and each time the awards follow. He has also been honored with retrospectives at the Cinémathèque Française and the Museum of Modern Art, and his films are regularly taught in film schools as examples of modern European storytelling.

AwardsLukas Moodysson has won some of the most prestigious awards in European and Swedish cinema. His debut Show Me Love swept the Guldbagge Awards in 1999, taking home Best Film and Best Director. He repeated the Best Director win at the Guldbagges for Lilya 4-Ever in 2003, and also picked up the European Film Award for Best Director that same year. We Are the Best! brought him another Guldbagge for Best Film in 2014. His work has been recognized at festivals in Göteborg, Berlin, and elsewhere, cementing his reputation as a master storyteller.
