Marinelli has been honored with some of Italy's top film awards. He is one of the few actors to win both the David di Donatello and the Nastro d'Argento for the same performance. His Volpi Cup win for Martin Eden placed him among the elite of European cinema. He has also been recognized as a Shooting Star by European Film Promotion, highlighting him as one of the continent's rising talents.
