Lovesick Girls

October 2, 2020 marked the release of Lovesick Girls, a track that became the emotional anchor for Blackpink's debut studio album, The Album. While the record contains ten songs blending K-pop with Western pop structures, this single distinguished itself by swapping synth-heavy production for a guitar-driven intro and punk rock energy. The song explores the raw pain of heartbreak without losing the group's signature sharp delivery or self-worth.

Produced by Teddy Park, 24, and David Guetta, the anthem captures a specific brand of vulnerability where members admit to being lovesick despite knowing their own value. The lyrics reject princess tropes in favor of being priceless, setting a tone of resilience that resonated globally. Critics noted how the track balanced these heavy themes with an infectious dance beat that felt both mature and accessible. [edit]
