Louis van Gaal is celebrated as one of the most decorated and innovative managers in football history. His 20 major club honors include a Champions League title, multiple league championships in three countries, and an FA Cup. He is the only manager to win the Eredivisie with both Ajax and AZ, and his 1995 Ajax team is remembered as one of the greatest sides of the modern era. Van Gaal's influence extends beyond trophies: his youth development methods shaped a generation of players and coaches, most notably Pep Guardiola. He was named in the FIFA 100 list of greatest living players and coaches in 2004 and ranked #5 in France Football's greatest managers of all time in 2019.
