Loner Life in Another World

When a class of high school students is summoned to a fantasy realm, most rush to form parties and claim powerful skills. Haruka, who prefers solitude, skips the selection entirely and ends up with abilities others consider useless, like talking to plants. Instead of joining his classmates, he navigates dungeons alone, using his mundane talents to survive where traditional heroes might fail. The series treats these leftovers not as weaknesses but as tools for a pragmatic, anti-heroic approach to adventure.

Shoji Goji wrote the original web novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō starting in October 2016. Overlap Bunko picked it up for print publication, releasing the first volume on January 25, 2018. Illustrations by Booota and Saku Enokimaru accompany the text. By early 2025, ten volumes had been released in Japan. Yen Press handles the English light novel editions under their Yen On imprint.

The franchise expanded into a manga adaptation illustrated by Bibi, which began serialization on Comic Gardo in January 2019. An anime adaptation produced by Passione aired from October to December 2024. HIDIVE secured exclusive rights for the English dub, launching weekly releases on February 12, 2025.
