Loewe

Founded in Madrid in 1846, Loewe is a Spanish luxury fashion house with a history that predates most of its European peers. The brand began as a collective of leather artisans who pooled their skills to make tobacco boxes, bags, and other small leather goods. In 1872, German craftsman Enrique Loewe Roessberg joined the workshop, and his name eventually became the label we know today. The house has remained in continuous operation for over 175 years, with its ateliers and headquarters still based in the Spanish capital.

Loewe joined the LVMH conglomerate in 1996, a move that brought financial muscle and global distribution without diluting its craft-focused identity. Under creative director Jonathan Anderson, who held the role from 2013 to 2025, the brand gained a reputation for sculptural handbags and art-driven campaigns that blurred the line between fashion and contemporary art. In 2025, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, the duo behind Proenza Schouler, took over creative direction, signaling a new chapter while the house celebrates its 180th anniversary.

Today, Loewe operates boutiques in major cities worldwide and sells through its own e-commerce platform as well as luxury retailers like Neiman Marcus and Net-a-Porter. The brand's product range spans ready-to-wear for men and women, leather goods, shoes, jewelry, and fragrances, with the Puzzle, Flamenco, Hammock, and Amazona bags among its most recognizable designs. CEO Pascale Lepoivre, who has led the company since 2016, oversees a business that industry analysts estimate generates over €1 billion in annual revenue, though LVMH does not disclose individual brand figures.
