Little Mix

Little Mix are a British girl group that formed on the eighth series of The X Factor in 2011, where they became the first and only group to win the original UK series. The group initially consisted of four members—Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall—who were originally solo contestants. During the bootcamp stage, judges Kelly Rowland and Tulisa Contostavlos grouped them into a band called Rhythmix, later renamed Little Mix due to a charity conflict. After winning the live shows in December 2011, they were signed to Simon Cowell's Syco Music and released their debut single Cannonball, a cover that debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart.

Little Mix rose to prominence with their debut original single Wings (2012), which also hit number one in the UK and reached number 15 on the US Billboard Hot 100, making them the first British girl group to crack the US top 20 in over a decade. Their debut album DNA followed in 2012, peaking at number 3 in the UK and number 4 on the Billboard 200—the highest debut for a UK girl group. Over the next decade, they released six studio albums, each charting in the UK top 5, and amassed five number-one singles and nineteen top ten entries on the UK Singles Chart. Their 2015 single Black Magic became a global smash, spending three weeks at number one in the UK and reaching number 3 in the US. In 2023, the song's music video became the first by a British girl group to surpass one billion views on YouTube.

The group has broken numerous records, including becoming the first girl group to spend over 100 weeks inside the top ten of the UK Singles Chart and the first to accumulate six top five entries on the UK Albums Chart. They have sold over 75 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling girl groups of all time. In 2021, they became the first girl group in 41 years to win the British Group award at the Brit Awards. After a decade of non-stop activity, Little Mix announced a hiatus in 2022 to allow members to pursue solo projects. They have a strong LGBTQ+ following and have been vocal advocates for LGBTQ+ rights, earning an Attitude Award and a British LGBT Award. Their fashion sense, mixing streetwear with high fashion, has influenced young women's style. In South Korea, they gained a cult following, with Pitchfork noting they captured K-pop's spirit better than any other Western girl group. Little Mix's fandom is called the Mixers. Their official lightstick, released in 2017, is a black and pink microphone-shaped design with a glowing LM logo. The fan colors are black and pink. Mixers are known for passionate streaming parties and charity projects. In 2018, they raised over £10,000 for mental health charities in Jesy Nelson's name.
