Little Caesars

Mike and Marian Ilitch opened their first store in Garden City, Michigan, on May 8, 1959. They quickly realized that customers wanted fresh pizza without the wait time associated with traditional delivery models. Their solution was the Hot-N-Ready concept, which offered pre-made pizzas available for immediate pickup at a fraction of the cost of competitors.

This value-focused approach allowed the chain to grow into the third-largest pizza brand in the United States by sales volume. While Domino's and Pizza Hut dominated the market with made-to-order delivery systems, Little Caesars carved out a loyal following by prioritizing speed and affordability over complex customization.

The company remains privately held under Ilitch Holdings, a family-owned conglomerate based in Detroit. Following the passing of Mike Ilitch in 2017 and Marian Ilitch in 2023, leadership has transitioned to their children, Mark and Christopher Ilitch, who continue to steer the business toward expansion and strategic partnerships.
