Lisa D. Cook's achievements are historic and academic in nature. She is the first Black woman to serve on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, a milestone that required a tie-breaking vote by the Vice President. She was also the first Marshall Scholar from Spelman College, and her research has been supported by the National Science Foundation and Harvard Business School. Her resilience in the face of personal and professional challenges, including a near-fatal car accident and political attacks, defines her legacy.
