Lio Rush

Lionel Gerard Green, known worldwide as Lio Rush, is an American professional wrestler and rapper. As of 2026, he is signed to All Elite Wrestling and Ring of Honor, where he performs as the "Blackheart" and holds the ROH World Television Championship. Rush first gained national attention in WWE as the youngest NXT Cruiserweight Champion and as the manager of Bobby Lashley on Raw. His high-flying style and confident persona have made him a standout across multiple promotions including New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Impact Wrestling, and Major League Wrestling. Beyond wrestling, he is a legitimate rapper who releases his own music, blending his athletic career with hip-hop artistry. Fans know him for his fast-paced matches, record-breaking moments, and his willingness to speak openly about mental health in the wrestling industry.[edit]

Rush grew up in the Washington D.C. metro area and attended high school in Maryland, where he was a standout amateur wrestler. His high school wrestling career taught him discipline and athleticism that he later brought to professional wrestling. After graduating, he immediately began training at the MCW Pro Wrestling facility. He made his professional debut in 2014 at age 19, wrestling for Combat Zone Wrestling and MCW. A major turning point came in 2016 when he entered and won the Ring of Honor Top Prospect Tournament, earning a contract with ROH and putting him on the map of major promotions.[edit]

Rush signed with WWE in 2017 and debuted on NXT, quickly becoming a standout in the cruiserweight division. In 2018, he won the WWE United Kingdom Championship Invitational and later that year was called up to the main roster to manage Bobby Lashley, gaining significant television exposure. On January 30, 2019, he defeated Drew Gulak to become the NXT Cruiserweight Champion at age 24, the youngest in the title's history. After requesting his release in April 2020 due to burnout, he debuted in New Japan Pro-Wrestling in 2021 and won the Impact X Division Championship. In 2022, he won the MLW World Middleweight Championship. He debuted in AEW in 2023 and won the ROH World Television Championship in 2024, which he still holds as of 2026.[edit]

Rush is known for his high-flying, fast-paced wrestling style and his cocky, confident character. His "Blackheart" gimmick features dark ring gear with black and red accents, and he often enters to his own rap music. He is respected for his in-ring ability but has a polarizing persona that draws both cheers and boos. On social media, he engages with fans directly with a confident tone. He does not have an official fandom name, but his supporters embrace his "Blackheart" identity. He is also recognized for speaking candidly about mental health challenges in wrestling.[edit]

Lio Rush has cultivated a distinct following that spans wrestling promotions and hip-hop circles, though his fanbase remains without a formal, unified name. Supporters generally identify with his "Blackheart" persona rather than adopting a collective moniker like "The Rushers." His engagement is primarily digital, where he maintains a direct line to over 450,000 followers on Instagram, fostering a community built on shared appreciation for his athletic prowess and musical output. The recent shift from a high-energy rapper-wrestler to the dark, committed "Blackheart" character sparked intense industry dialogue, earning praise from peers like Edge and MJF for its bold execution. This transformation culminated in a defining moment when he captured the ROH World Television Championship at Global Wars Mexico, validating the new aesthetic and cementing his current cultural mythology within the AEW and Ring of Honor ecosystems. While crowds do not shut down streets or stage massive organized campaigns in his name, the reverence shown by top-tier talent signals a deep respect for his craft among those who follow the business closely. Despite this dedicated niche audience and significant industry recognition, iFANN's Global Fame Engine has evaluated Lio Rush but determined he does not currently hold a placement in the published rankings for the Global Top 1,000 or any Top-100 scope list.[edit]

Rush holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest pinfall victory in WWE history, defeating Ariya Daivari in just 2.5 seconds during a 205 Live match in 2018. A legitimate artist, he has released multiple singles and music videos under his own name, seamlessly blending his rap career with his in-ring exploits. His current "Blackheart" persona in AEW and ROH serves as a deliberate callback to his independent wrestling roots. He was the first wrestler to win the ROH Top Prospect Tournament before returning to claim a championship in the company. Fans often cite Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio as his biggest influences due to their shared love for anti-hero archetypes. A defining legend of his recent career emerged in 2026 when he debuted the "Blackheart" character at AEW Revolution, a move that initially drew mixed reactions but ultimately earned high praise from legends like Edge and Big E. This era reached its peak on June 18, 2026, when he defeated El Clon to win the ROH World Television Title at Global Wars Mexico, transforming a controversial experiment into a celebrated championship reign that even prompted Tony Khan to note the lucrative nature of this new direction.[edit]

Rush is a father to one child, but he keeps details about his children and their mother private to protect their privacy. He has not publicly named his parents or siblings. He was raised in the Maryland area and has mentioned that his family has been supportive of his wrestling career. As of 2026, he resides in the United States and focuses on his wrestling and music careers.[edit]

Rush is closely associated with Bobby Lashley, whom he managed in WWE. He has had notable rivalries with Drew Gulak in the cruiserweight division. In AEW and ROH, he frequently teams with or opposes The Lucha Brothers and Bandido.[edit]

Lio Rush is notably private about his romantic life. No confirmed public relationships have been reported. He has at least one child, but the mother's identity and his relationship status with her are unknown. As of 2026, he is reportedly single.[edit]

Updated for 2026, Lio Rush's net worth is estimated between $1 million and $2 million, with iFANN's editorial analysis pinpointing the figure at $1.5 Million. His primary income stream stems from his contract with All Elite Wrestling and Ring of Honor, which reportedly places him in the mid-to-high six-figure range annually. Additional revenue flows from independent wrestling bookings, merchandise sales featuring his "Blackheart" brand, and earnings from his rap career. He does not currently hold major endorsement deals or public real estate holdings. His financial standing has seen steady growth since his return to AEW in 2023.[edit]

Lio Rush's career is defined by championship victories rather than traditional industry awards. He has won multiple titles across major promotions including the NXT Cruiserweight Championship, Impact X Division Championship, MLW World Middleweight Championship, and ROH World Television Championship. He also won the 2016 ROH Top Prospect Tournament and the 2018 WWE United Kingdom Championship Invitational.[edit]
