Léster Martínez's accomplishments are notable for a fighter from a small boxing nation. He is the first Guatemalan to win a gold medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games in boxing since 1986. His silver medal at the 2012 Youth World Championships remains one of the best international results for a Guatemalan amateur.
