    Lee Byung-hun has been consistently recognized as one of Korea's top actors. He was named Film Actor of the Year by Gallup Korea in 2012 and Television Actor of the Year in 2018. In 2013, he received the Order of Cultural Merit for his contributions to Korean culture. He made history as the first South Korean actor to present at the Academy Awards and to leave handprints at Grauman's Chinese Theatre. His Golden Globe nomination for The Man Standing Next in 2021 marked a rare achievement for a Korean actor in a leading role.
