Lauryn Hill's achievements place her among the most decorated artists in music history. She is the first and only female rapper to win Album of the Year at the Grammys, and her five wins in one night remain a record for a woman. Her debut album was the first by a female rapper to achieve diamond certification and was named the greatest album of all time by Apple Music in 2024. Hill was the first rapper on the cover of Time magazine and the only woman on MTV's and Billboard's lists of greatest MCs. Her influence extends beyond music: she has been honored with the NAACP President's Award and the BET Living Legend Icon Award, and her album was added to the National Recording Registry in 2022.
