Krist Novoselic's achievements extend beyond music. As a co-founder of Nirvana, he helped create an album, Nevermind, that Rolling Stone ranked number six on its 2020 list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The song Smells Like Teen Spirit topped Rolling Stone's 2021 list of the 500 Greatest Songs. Nirvana was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014, and Nevermind was added to the Library of Congress National Recording Registry in 2014 for its cultural significance. In 2023, Novoselic received an honorary doctorate from the University of Washington for his activism and music, a rare honor for a rock musician.
