Kingsman

The Kingsman franchise brings a stylish, irreverent twist to the spy genre, blending sharp action with British wit. It all started with a 2012 comic book series by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, published under Marvel's Icon imprint. The concept, developed with filmmaker Matthew Vaughn, imagines a secret intelligence agency operating outside government control, recruiting from the working class and outfitting its agents with bespoke suits and high-tech gadgets. The tone walks a fine line between self-aware parody and genuine espionage thrills, often splashed with over-the-top violence and dark humor.

The first film, Kingsman: The Secret Service, hit theaters in February 2015. Directed by Vaughn and co-written with Jane Goldman, it stars Colin Firth as the dapper Harry Hart (codename Galahad) and Taron Egerton as the young recruit Eggsy. Made on a modest $81 million budget, it grossed over $414 million worldwide, earning strong reviews for its fresh take on tired tropes. A sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, followed in September 2017, expanding the world with stateside allies. A prequel, The King's Man, arrived in December 2021, starring Ralph Fiennes and shifting the timeline to World War I. The franchise has since branched into video games, comic sequels like Kingsman: The Red Diamond, and a meta spin-off, Argylle, released in February 2024, which features Henry Cavill as an agent within the same universe.
