Thailand"Winning power for travelers"
About
King Power International Group operates as Thailand's primary travel retail operator, controlling the vast majority of duty-free concessions within the nation's airports. The company's footprint stretches from Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang terminals to city centers like the flagship King Power Rangnam complex in Bangkok. This network serves millions of international travelers annually with tax-free access to luxury goods, cosmetics, alcohol, and electronics.
Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha established the business in 1989 and built it into a dominant force before his death in a helicopter crash on October 7, 2018. His son Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha assumed leadership as chairman and CEO, steering the family conglomerate through significant changes while maintaining its market position. The brand expanded beyond physical stores by launching King Power Online in 2015 to reach global shoppers with both duty-free and duty-paid products.
The group gained international attention after acquiring Leicester City Football Club in May 2010 for £34 million. Under this ownership, the club won the Premier League title in 2016 and competed in European tournaments. In August 2026, following the team's relegation to League One, King Power announced plans to sell the club for over £200 million, ending a 16-year chapter in English football.
