Kim Yu-jeong

Kim Yu-jeong is a South Korean singer best known as a former member of the girl group Laboum. She gained international recognition for her vocals and stage presence during the group's active years in the mid-2010s. As of 2026, she has transitioned away from idol activities to pursue private life and independent creative projects.

Her career peaked when she helped define the sound of Laboum with hits like Panorama and Lady Luck. Fans remember her distinct vocal tone that often anchored the group's ballads and upbeat tracks alike. While she no longer performs regularly under the group name, her contributions remain a key part of K-pop history for that specific era. [edit]

Born on February 14, 1992, in Seoul, Kim Yu-jeong showed an early interest in performing arts. Like many aspiring idols in South Korea, she entered the rigorous training system at a young age. She spent several years perfecting her dance skills and vocal techniques before ever stepping onto a professional stage. Her dedication paid off when she was selected by Nega Network, a smaller agency known for launching unique groups.

The road to debut was not immediate. After passing auditions and enduring months of grueling practice sessions, she finally joined the lineup for what would become Laboum. The group underwent extensive preparation, learning choreography and English phrases to prepare for their global debut strategy. By late 2014, she was ready to introduce herself to the world as part of this new female ensemble. [edit]

Kim Yu-jeong made her official debut with Laboum on July 20, 2014, releasing the single album Sea Star. The group quickly established a colorful image with their catchy title track Panorama. They followed this success with their first full album With Love in November 2014, which featured the popular song Lady Luck. These releases solidified her position as a central vocalist within the group.

Throughout 2015 and 2016, the group continued to release music, including the EP Laboum's Beginning and the mini-album Very Very Very. Kim Yu-jeong contributed significantly to the group's harmonies and performance energy during these years. In 2017, they released their final major work before going on hiatus. Following the group's disbandment in 2021, she stepped back from the public eye to focus on personal matters while occasionally appearing in variety shows or fan meetings. [edit]

In the public eye, Kim Yu-jeong projected a sweet yet mature image typical of second-generation K-pop idols. Her style often leaned towards chic casual wear during promotions, mixing pastel colors with structured jackets. Media outlets described her as polite and hardworking during interviews. Her singing voice was often highlighted as one of the most stable and clear in the group, earning respect from critics and peers alike. [edit]
