Quentin Tarantino stripped away the funk and soul of the first volume to build a darker, more atmospheric soundscape for the sequel. Released on April 13, 2004 through Maverick Records, this collection leans heavily into spaghetti western tropes and vintage Japanese enka tracks. The album features dialogue from Uma Thurman opening the record and closes with Zamfir's haunting flute piece The Lonely Shepherd. A diverse lineup including Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, and Chingon fills the gaps between original score cues composed by RZA and Robert Rodriguez.

Commercial performance saw the album reach number 58 on the US Billboard 200 and secure the second spot on the Top Soundtrack Albums chart. It also found traction in Australia, entering the ARIA Top 50 list. Critics praised how the music mirrored the film's shift from rage to sorrow, with Emmylou Harris's ballad A Love That Will Never Grow Old standing out as a critical highlight.
