Kill Bill Vol. 2 – Original Soundtrack

The sequel soundtrack swaps the first volume's pop and soul for spaghetti western twang. Released April 13, 2004 on Maverick Records, the album leans heavily into Ennio Morricone-style guitar and brooding atmosphere. Robert Rodriguez and RZA handled the music, blending original score with vintage finds. Rodriguez's band Chingon delivers the menacing "Malaguena Salerosa," while RZA's hip-hop touches surface on tracks like the Emmylou Harris ballad "A Love That Will Never Grow Old." The 20-track collection also pulls from Italian westerns, Japanese enka, and surf rock.

The album peaked at number 58 on the Billboard 200 and number 2 on the Top Soundtrack Albums chart. It also charted in Australia's ARIA Top 50. The Harris single earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song in 2004. Unlike the first volume's frenetic energy, this soundtrack mirrors the film's slower, more introspective second half, from the mournful flute of Zamfir's "The Lonely Shepherd" to Johnny Cash's cover of "A Satisfied Mind."[edit]
