Kids See Ghosts brought together two of hip-hop's most influential figures, Kanye West and Kid Cudi, whose creative partnership stretched back a decade before the duo formally existed. West signed Cudi to his GOOD Music label in 2008 and released Cudi's debut mixtape A Kid Named Cudi, then featured him heavily on the landmark album 808s & Heartbreak. That album, with its Auto-Tuned melodies and emotional vulnerability, reshaped hip-hop and pop, and Cudi's contributions were central to its sound.
