Kevin Kiley

Kevin Patrick Kiley arrived in the world on January 30, 1985, in Sacramento, California. He built a career spanning law, academia, and politics before entering the national spotlight. His path took him from serving in the California State Assembly for the 6th district between 2016 and 2022 to winning a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives for California's 3rd congressional district in 2022. A Republican at the time, he held that federal post until a dramatic shift in his political identity occurred. Kiley faced a significant challenge during the 2021 California gubernatorial recall election when he ran to replace Governor Gavin Newsom but did not succeed. His tenure in Congress ended abruptly after he announced his departure from the Republican Party in 2026. Citing deep frustration with partisan gridlock, he declared himself an independent and set his sights on running for re-election in what was then designated as the 6th congressional district. That bid failed when Democrat Richard Pan defeated him in the subsequent election.[edit]
