Ketlen Souza

Ketlen Gabriela da Silva Souza is a Brazilian mixed martial artist competing in the women's strawweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Born on August 18, 1995, she stands at 5 feet 3 inches and fights out of an orthodox stance with a reach of 63 inches. The athlete known as Esquentadinha has built a reputation for technical striking and grappling prowess that rivals the best in her weight class.

Souza entered the global spotlight after capturing the Invicta FC Flyweight Championship in December 2019. Her transition to the UFC followed shortly after, where she has consistently ranked among the top contenders. As of 2026, she remains a dominant force in the sport, drawing attention from fans worldwide for her resilience and ability to adapt her game against elite opponents. [edit]

Ketlen Gabriela da Silva Souza grew up in Manaus, a major city nestled deep within the Amazon rainforest in Brazil. This environment forged a unique toughness in her early years, as the region is known for its challenging conditions and resilient culture. Unlike many fighters who train in established gyms from childhood, Souza's path into combat sports was driven by a need to channel her energy and build discipline through necessity. She began honing her skills in regional Brazilian circuits, fighting in local promotions to gain experience before seeking opportunities abroad.

Her journey took a pivotal turn when scouts from the Invicta Fighting Championships noticed her dominance in South America. Unlike peers who rushed to international organizations, Souza spent significant time establishing her credentials locally. She compiled an impressive record in these regional bouts, showcasing a well-rounded skill set that included both aggressive striking and submission grappling. These early victories served as a crucial stepping stone, proving she could handle high-pressure situations and setting the stage for her eventual move to North America. [edit]

Souza turned professional around 2015 and quickly rose through the ranks of the Brazilian circuit. Her breakthrough came in 2018 when she joined the Invicta Fighting Championships, an organization dedicated to female fighters. She made an immediate impact, culminating in a title shot later that year. In December 2019, she defeated Jessica Aguilar via unanimous decision at Invicta FC 32 to capture the Invicta FC Flyweight Championship. This victory marked her as one of the few fighters to hold titles in multiple weight classes across different organizations.

Following her championship reign, Souza signed with the UFC in 2020. She made her debut against Andrea Lee at UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Harris in June 2020, winning via unanimous decision. Since then, she has faced tough competition including Roxanne Modafferi, Raquel Pennington, Manon Fiorot, and Taila Santos. Despite some losses to top contenders, she has maintained her position as a top-10 ranked fighter. As of 2026, she continues to compete at the highest level, aiming to reclaim a title shot with improved takedown defense and striking accuracy. [edit]

Souza projects an image of a disciplined, hardworking athlete deeply connected to her roots in the Amazon. Her social media presence focuses on training clips, fight promotions, and motivational messages rather than personal gossip. Known for her fiery personality inside the cage, she combines technical precision with an aggressive striking style that keeps fans engaged. The media often highlights her resilience and ability to bounce back from setbacks, cementing her status as a respected figure in the women's strawweight division. [edit]
