Keirrison

Keirrison de Souza Carneiro, known to fans as K9, was born on December 3, 1988, in Dourados, a city in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul. He played as a forward, and his nickname hinted at the predatory instincts that defined his early career. At 37, he is now retired from professional football, but his journey through the sport took him from the fields of Brazil to some of Europe's biggest clubs. Keirrison's rise began at Coritiba, where his goal-scoring exploits earned him a move to Palmeiras in 2009. That same year, he signed with Barcelona, but he never made a first-team appearance for the Catalan club. Instead, he was loaned out to Benfica, Fiorentina, and later Santos, before returning to Brazil permanently. His time at Santos in 2011 was particularly fruitful, as he helped the club win the Copa Libertadores, forming a potent attacking partnership with Neymar. Across his club career, Keirrison made over 150 appearances and scored more than 50 goals, a record that underscores his talent despite the stops and starts. At international level, Keirrison represented Brazil at the under-20 World Cup in 2009, where he finished as the tournament's top scorer with five goals. That achievement highlighted his potential on the global stage. Though he never played for the senior national team, his youth performances remain a notable chapter in his story. Since retiring, Keirrison has largely stepped away from the spotlight, but his name still resonates with those who followed his career. The nickname K9 lives on as a reminder of the promise he showed and the moments he delivered on the pitch.[edit]
