Katie McGlynn

The trophy cabinet is thin, and that is normal for a British soap actor of her generation. McGlynn's standing rests on longevity and range instead: three series of Waterloo Road, seven years and 700-plus episodes of Coronation Street, a two-year Hollyoaks run, and a Strictly appearance that put her in front of a Saturday-night audience of millions. Her 2020 British Soap Awards nomination for Sinead's cancer exit is the closest she has come to a major prize, and the storyline itself did more for cervical cancer awareness than any award could.
