Kate del Castillo's career is marked by historic achievements in Latin American television. She is one of the few actresses to win the Premios TVyNovelas Best Lead Actress award for a single role in two consecutive years (2011 and 2012). Her portrayal of Teresa Mendoza in La Reina del Sur made her the first actress to win the Imagen Foundation Award for Best Actress for a Spanish-language series. In 2019, she became the first Mexican telenovela star to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame specifically for television work.
