Karol Nawrocki

Nawrocki's achievements are rooted in his dedication to preserving Poland's historical memory. As director of the Museum of the Second World War and later the IPN, he shaped national narratives on anti-communist resistance. His election as president in 2025 marked a historic shift, making him the first historian to hold the office. He holds a Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Gdańsk and was named an honorary citizen of Gdańsk in 2025.
