Karate Kid: Legends

Li Fong, a young kung fu prodigy from Beijing, finds his world upended by tragedy and is forced to relocate to New York City with his mother. The transition proves difficult as the boy struggles to adapt to a new life far from his home. When he encounters a friend in need, Li steps into the arena of a local karate tournament, but traditional skills alone cannot secure victory against seasoned opponents. Director Jonathan Entwistle guides this action-drama, bringing together a cast that includes Jackie Chan as the stoic mentor Mr. Han and Ben Wang as the determined Li Fong. Joshua Jackson and Sadie Stanley round out the family dynamic as Victor and Mia Lipani, while Ming-Na Wen appears as Dr. Fong. The production, backed by a $45 million budget from Columbia Pictures and Sunswept Entertainment, blends Mandarin and English dialogue to bridge cultural divides. This entry expands the franchise timeline, connecting the original The Karate Kid story to a new generation. Daniel LaRusso returns to the screen, offering guidance that merges his karate expertise with Li's kung fu background. The film earned a solid 7 out of 10 rating from over 1,300 voters and grossed more than $117 million worldwide upon its May 2025 release.[edit]
