Juventus FC

Juventus Football Club, founded on November 1, 1897, by a group of Turinese students as Sport-Club Juventus, is the second oldest active football club in Italy. Originally an athletics club, it has been managed by the industrial Agnelli family almost continuously since 1923, the oldest and longest such relationship in national sports. The club's home venue since 2011 is the Juventus Stadium (also known as Allianz Stadium for sponsorship reasons), having previously played at Stadio delle Alpi and Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. Juventus competes in Serie A, the top tier of the Italian football league system, and has participated in every season of the premier division since its debut in 1900, except for the 2006–07 season.

Juventus holds the record for the most official league titles in Italy with 36, along with 15 Coppa Italia trophies and nine Italian Super Cups—records for all three domestic competitions. Internationally, the club has won two Intercontinental Cups, two European Cup/UEFA Champions Leagues (1984–85, 1995–96), one European Cup Winners' Cup (1983–84), three UEFA Cups (a record for an Italian club), two UEFA Super Cups, and one UEFA Intertoto Cup (also an Italian record). Under Giovanni Trapattoni, Juventus became the first club in the world to win all five historical confederation trophies, a feat achieved by 1985 and revalidated with the 1999 UEFA Intertoto Cup.

The club's fan base is the largest in Italy and one of the largest worldwide, widespread throughout the country and the Italian diaspora, symbolizing anticampanilismo (anti-parochialism) and italianità (Italianness). Juventus players have won eight Ballon d'Or awards, including four in consecutive years (1982–1985, a joint record), with winners such as Michel Platini, Omar Sívori, and Paolo Rossi, as well as four FIFA World Player of the Year awards, with winners including Roberto Baggio and Zinedine Zidane. Juventus has also provided the most players to the Italy national team, often forming the core of successful Azzurri squads in the 1934, 1982, and 2006 FIFA World Cups.[edit]

Juventus was founded in 1897 by a group of Turinese students, initially as an athletics club. The club adopted its famous black and white stripes in 1903, inspired by English side Notts County. Juventus won its first league title in 1905. The Agnelli family took over in 1923, beginning an era of sustained success. Under Giovanni Trapattoni in the 1970s and 1980s, Juventus dominated domestically and became a European powerhouse, winning the UEFA Cup in 1977, the Cup Winners' Cup in 1984, and the European Cup in 1985. The club also won the Intercontinental Cup that year, completing a clean sweep of all five historical confederation trophies.

The 1990s brought further glory under Marcello Lippi, including a Champions League title in 1996, three consecutive Serie A titles (1997, 1998, 1999), and multiple international honors. However, the club was implicated in the Calciopoli match-fixing scandal in 2006, resulting in relegation to Serie B and the stripping of two league titles. Juventus returned to Serie A in 2007 and rebuilt under Antonio Conte, winning three consecutive Serie A titles from 2012 to 2014. Massimiliano Allegri then led the club to five more league titles and two Champions League finals (2015, 2017).
