Just in Time

The song "Just in Time" was written by Jule Styne with lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green for the 1956 Broadway musical Bells Are Ringing, where Judy Holliday and Sydney Chaplin introduced it. Tony Bennett recorded his version on September 19, 1956, at Columbia's 30th Street Studio, with arranger Percy Faith and producer Mitch Miller. Released as a single on October 8, 1956, with B-side "The Autumn Waltz", it later appeared on Bennett's 1962 album Mr. Broadway: Tony's Greatest Broadway Hits and numerous compilations. Bennett's recording runs 2:32 and is classified as jazz or traditional pop.

Other notable recordings include Peggy Lee's on her 1958 album Jump for Joy, Blossom Dearie's on her 1959 album Blossom Dearie Sings Comden and Green, and Barbra Streisand's on her 1964 album The Third Album. Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra also recorded the song, appearing on later Rat Pack compilations. Eddie Fisher's recording is not documented in the available sources. There is no evidence that a 1956 compilation album titled "Just in Time" uniting these seven vocalists on a single 12-track LP ever existed; rather, each artist recorded the song independently on their own albums or singles.
