Juria

Juria is a Japanese singer and dancer who serves as the main vocalist for the international hip-hop and R&B girl group XG. Born Juria Ueda in Osaka, she rose to prominence after transitioning from the local idol scene to the global stage managed by XGALX. Her powerful voice and dynamic performance style have become central to the group's identity since their debut in early 2022.

As of 2026, Juria continues to lead XG through major international tours and album releases like THE CORE - 核. She maintains a strong connection with her fans while navigating the demands of being a frontwoman in one of the most talked-about new acts in K-pop adjacent spaces. Her journey from a child actor in Japan to an international star defines her current career trajectory. [edit]

Juria Ueda began her entertainment journey at a very young age in Osaka, Japan. In 2014, just ten years old, she joined the Japanese idol group Amorecarina Tokyo, marking her first official step into the industry. During these formative years, she honed her skills in dance and singing alongside her peers in the group.

Before her global breakthrough, Juria built experience through various commercial projects and television appearances. She starred in commercials for Nintendo 3DS games, showcasing her ability to perform for cameras at an early age. She also appeared on the popular Japanese comedy program Piramekino, where she gained exposure to a wider domestic audience. These early roles provided her with professional discipline and stage presence long before she entered the international spotlight.

The transition from a local Japanese idol to a global artist required significant preparation. Juria spent years developing her vocal range and stage charisma within the competitive Japanese market. Her time with Amorecarina Tokyo laid the groundwork for her eventual selection by XGALX. By 2021, she had accumulated enough experience to be considered for the new co-ed project that would change her life forever. [edit]

The turning point for Juria came in February 2022 when she was officially revealed as a member of the newly formed group XG. The lineup included six other talented performers: Cocona, Hinata, Chisa, Mayu, Moka, and Saori. Just one month later in March 2022, the group dropped their debut single "Tippy Toes," which immediately caught the attention of music critics and fans alike for its unique blend of English lyrics and hip-hop beats.

XG quickly distinguished themselves from traditional J-pop acts by focusing on high-energy performances and a distinct visual aesthetic. Their debut album Shocking arrived in 2023, solidifying their place in the global market. The group continued their momentum with the release of New DNA in 2024, featuring documentary-style content like XG: Something Ain't Right that gave fans a closer look at their creative process.

In January 2026, Juria and the rest of XG announced a major rebranding, shifting the meaning of their name to "Xtraordinary Genes." This coincided with the launch of their third album THE CORE - 核 and a subsequent world tour. Recent updates from mid-2026 show the group filming content in Los Angeles and teasing visuals for tracks like "HYPNOTIZE." A feature in Rolling Stone during May 2026 highlighted the group's limitless potential and their growing influence on the global music scene. [edit]

Juria is widely recognized for her angelic appearance paired with a fierce stage presence. Media outlets often describe her as having a unique duality, blending soft facial features with powerful vocals and sharp dance moves. Her style leans towards trendy streetwear mixed with high-fashion elements, reflecting the group's modern aesthetic. In interviews, she comes across as humble and dedicated, often emphasizing the hard work behind their success rather than seeking personal glory. [edit]

This close interaction has fostered a loyal community that eagerly anticipates every new release and tour announcement. [edit]

Juria appeared in a commercial for a Nintendo 3DS game when she was just a child, a fact that often surprises fans who know her only as a modern pop star. Her early work on the comedy show Piramekino showcased a different side of her personality compared to the intense stage persona she holds today. Fans were delighted when XG released member-produced fragrance items for their third anniversary in November 2025, allowing them to own a piece of the group's scent. Many observers note that Juria possesses an "angelic face" that contrasts sharply with the aggressive energy she brings to hip-hop choreography. The group's decision to perform entirely in English while maintaining their Japanese roots remains a defining characteristic of their artistic identity. [edit]
