Junji Itō holds the Guinness World Record for most horror manga published by a single author, with over 100 volumes. He was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Awards Hall of Fame in 2024. His work Uzumaki has been ranked #1 on Rolling Stone's "Top 10 Horror Manga of All Time" and included in TIME's "100 Best Horror Books of All Time."

AwardsItō has won multiple Eisner Awards, including Best U.S. Edition of International Material, Asia for Uzumaki (1998) and Tomie (2016), and Best Writer/Artist (2012). He received a Harvey Award for Tomie (2017), the Inkpot Award (2018), the Japan Cartoonists Association Grand Prize (2021), and the Seiun Award for Best Comic (2021).
