Julia Child's achievements are extraordinary in both scope and impact. She was one of the first television chefs to achieve national fame, and her Peabody Award recognized the cultural significance of The French Chef. She won two Primetime Emmys and a Daytime Emmy, a rare television triple. Her Grammy for spoken word recording showed her reach beyond cooking. The French Legion of Honour and Presidential Medal of Freedom placed her among the most honored figures in American culture. Her cookbook Mastering the Art of French Cooking has never gone out of print and is considered one of the most influential cookbooks of the 20th century. She was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
